I started having some trouble finding a way to use a podcast in my Algebra class. After much thought regarding how students would be able to hear lessons rather than see lessons, I decided to read through the examples in the book and explain them. I figured that this way if students were absent or needed more help with a lesson, this might be a way to get them more resources. I would still prefer to use digital story telling so that they could see what I was doing along with the explanation, but this worked.
As a fellow math teacher, I thought the same thing while I was working on mine. Math is too visual, and other multimedia tools seem like they would be much more effective. The podcast assignment seemed like it would be a fun thing to play with for certain things, but hard to work in to my curriculum consistently.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, check out www.mathgrad.com. It's a good one, for Math, and it works.
I would love learn to to use podcasting with my students. This is a very good support system for students that have missed class and for parents to assist students in class assignments.

I agree. It was nice to learn how to do a podcast, but it's so much better when we can combine audio and visual elements for our students. :)
